I am a consultant ophthalmologist as well as an AME, so I can carry out specialist eye examination at the time of your medical if this is necessary (normally the basic eye exam to AME standard is all that is needed).
This would need to be booked in advance so that we can arrange a longer appointment time. I normally expect you to bring the Med162 form completed by your optometrist.
I charge £250 for consultant eye examinations this, or £400 – £600 depending on complexity if you require a report for an aviation authority.
I may charge more for complex appeals to aviation authorities but I will agree a price with you for these unusual situations.
