OPHTHALMOLOGY EXAMS

As well as being an AME, I am an former NHS consultant ophthalmologist, and former consultant advisor in ophthalmology to the CAA, so I can carry out specialist eye examination if requested by you, the CAA or FAA.

This typically involves a 1.5 – 2 hour appointment time. Often I will have to dilate your pupils, so you must not drive or fly for the rest of the day. I normally (we can discuss this) expect you to bring the appropriate forms completed by your optometrist or orthotist when we meet.

I charge £320 for consultant eye examinations, or £450 – £850 (depending on complexity) if you need a formal report for an aviation authority or other entity.

I may charge more for complex appeals to aviation authorities but, once familiar with your case and before charging anything, I will agree a price with you for these unusual situations.
